Lets make Rio Vista SAFE & SECURE
With crime on the rise, the Rio Vista Civic Association (“RVCA“) wants to improve the security infrastructure of the Rio Vista neighborhood in Fort Lauderdale.
Unfortunately, and despite significant effort over the years, the RVCA cannot afford to make capital investments in security infrastructure through the normal dues process.
Therefore, the RVCA is asking the residents of Rio Vista to fund this one-time enhancement of security infrastructure.
Lets make Rio Vista safe & secure, heres how:
THE GAMEPLAN
1. License Plate Readers
Installing License Plate Readers at every entrance and exit of Rio Vista would provide the Fort Lauderdale Police Department (FLPD) an enhanced ability to track criminals and stolen cars, increasing the chances of stopping criminals and recovering stolen property by integrating with FLPD’s camera database.
2. Unmanned Gates
Unmanned gates will add an extra layer of security, deterring criminals from entering the community. The gates will also ensure the License Plate Readers are able to accurately track the vehicles entering and exiting our neighborhood. This step will requires government approval, which we are confident we can achieve.
The RVCA currently has the Protect Rio Vista program in place, which hires off duty police to patroll the neighborhood.
However, costs are increasing every year and more coverage is sorely needed.
We want to increase coverage while managing costs for better protection.
Note: Any leftover infrastructure funds will go towards more human security, possibly even private security.

TIMELINE & COST
We are currently fundraising the achieve the below milestones of this campaign. Once we receive enough non-binding pledges to achieve a milestone, then invoices for payment will be sent from the Rio Vista Civic Association to those who pledged. At the same time, we will continue to raise funds for the next milestone, while simultaneously executing the milestone that we have enough funds for.
For example, once we raise enough funds for the License Plate Readers, we will send invoices for the LPR’s and move forward with execution of that stage of the plan, while at the same time we will continue with fundraising for the Traffic Study and Permitting of the Unmanned Gates.
Therefore, we will complete each step of the campaign on a rolling basis, as opposed to waiting to raise the full amount of the project as a whole. Please note, that any excess funds will go towards human security.
